Episode 17: Choose visibility

Today’s episode is the last of our personal branding series. It is about the really important last pillar: visibility. I go in depth into the attitude and beliefs you need to cultivate to make sure you succeed at making yourself visible.
I then give an overview of some platforms you can choose for yourself.

Find out who you are, what you value, what you are a genius at, what you fear, what feels easy.

Take that, enhance and package it, and turn it bright onto the world.

Aligned. Valuable. Visible

That is what you want your brand AND your career to be and feel like.

One of my biggest influences when it comes to personal branding is a woman called Dorie Clark. She positions herself as a master in reinvention (I might just start using that term…minus the “master” part).

While her own reinvention process has propelled her to stratospheric visibility (Regular contributor to HBR, Forbes, Business Insider, Newsweek and more; teaching a course at Harvard Business School; Consulting and Speaking for some of the biggest organizations in the world, on the list of Thinkers 50 etc.), she does situate personal branding as an outside-in process:

“(…) really what we are talking about is something that has always existed: your reputation. What do people think of you? What do they say when you leave the room? Understanding that and identifying any gaps between the current reality and where you want to be in the future, is critical to beginning your reinvention process”
